Odakyu Real Estate “Machi machi machi stories 4” Noblesse oblige "Seijogakuen-mae part

2024

I drew illustrations for the Odakyu Real Estate “Machi machi machi stories 4” website and for the illustration of the story collection “Machi machi stories 4 - A collection of small daily life stories of beloved towns” which is distributed for free. The art director for this project was Kenichi Fuchi of Big Furoshiki (the name of the design company!). The setting for this project was Odakyu Tama. The setting this time was Seijo-gakuenmae on the Odakyu Tama Line. I drew illustrations for the story “Noblesse oblige”. Noblesse oblige“ is a French term meaning ”the duty of nobility," a moral concept that permeates Western society. It is the idea that those with wealth, power, and social status should fulfill social responsibilities and obligations commensurate with their status. It is a wonderful idea. In this story, the protagonist, who felt his own mortality, converted half of his house into a gallery in order to contribute to the community in which he lives. The scene I illustrated this time depicts the rows of cherry trees in front of Seijo-gakuen Station. I intended to express the dazzling light of spring and its transience.
