Cover illustration for the novel [HANA NO TSUTAJYU]

I was responsible for the cover illustration of HANA NO TSUTAJYU, authored by YOSHIKAWA Nagaharu , which was published by Shueisha Inc. on December 5, 2024. Japan's Edo period was a time when education was widely accessible to common people, resulting in a high literacy rate among the population. Against this cultural backdrop, the publishing industry flourished significantly. The title character, "TSUTAJYU," refers to Tsutaya Jūzaburō, who served as a publisher (both the president and producer of a publishing house) and discovered numerous talented individuals, bringing them into the limelight. Among these were famous names well-known to ukiyo-e enthusiasts, such as Kitagawa Utamaro and Tōshūsai Sharaku. This is the story of Tsutaya Jūzaburō, a real-life figure, shedding light on his life and legacy.
