Tōsenkyō

Tōsenkyō is a traditional Japanese game and performing art that dates back to the Edo period. Players throw a folding fan toward a target shaped like a butterfly placed on a small stand, and they compete by scoring points based on how the fan and the target fall. Her hairstyle is called “Geiko-Shimada,” a style that became popular among geiko (traditional female entertainers) in Kyoto during the Taishō period, which followed the Edo period.
