Assisted with an illustration for Yoshitaka Nabokui's short story “Fantasista no bearer” in the October 2023 issue of “Shosetsu Subaru” (Novel Subaru) [Special feature: Reading Sports]. The story is about a family of a brother in his late twenties and his soccer girl sister, written in his native Senshu dialect. I had to draw all the characters with great care. The timing was just right for Mana Iwabuchi, a former Nadeshiko Japan player, to announce her retirement, so the main character, a left-handed soccer prodigy junior high school girl, changed her dominant foot and became an omertjieu (Ms. Iwabuchi's professional debut). (And Ms. Iwabuchi's professional debut was at the age of 14.) So, once I got her image, I felt that her family and friends naturally started running the soccer court of her heart. Then I sketched carefully so that the picture would not be too hard. The work like that. Mr. Nanboku was very happy with such a finished product on Twitter, and I'm happy too.
