HOKURIKU-KOUSHINETU

The third installment of ACPC navi's local feature is on Hokuriku & Koshinetsu regions. Wow, what a difficult theme! In the first place, “Hokuriku” may include Fukui, Ishikawa, and Toyama prefectures, including Niigata, while “Koshinetsu” alone includes Yamanashi and Nagano prefectures without oceans, and Niigata, which has both oceans and mountains. Hmmm...should Gifu not be included if we consider its relationship with Toyama and Nagano? And so on. We also need to devise a way to convey the location of these six prefectures in an instant. I started with a collage of cut-and-paste coloring materials on Japanese paper, aiming to graphically convey the sea and mountains in a single visual image. Then, I placed a map of the area on top of it, and tried to place the other elements equally by using cut-outs. Hmmm...yes! Let's have a sister of the Etchu Owara Kazabon navigate the area! That's the idea. I've been to all of these areas, and they are all beautiful. So in the end, I spent a lot of time trying to show each element beautifully side by side.
