Peace Concert

These are flyers and posters for a peace concert that has been held by an organization that hopes for relief for hibakusha and lasting peace in the world in response to the damage caused by the atomic bombs in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. At the stage of undertaking this work this year, we were informed that this related organization would be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, and many people gathered on the day of the concert. I wanted the picture I drew to be as far removed from logic as possible, something that would make people who saw it feel that there was something peaceful about it. Relying on my own memories of fieldwork in the disaster-stricken areas of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, I painted the picture all at once with my left hand using acrylic paints.
