The Edo kouta unit "Akegure Kouta" performed a concert called "Hokusai Kouta," combining Edo kouta songs with Edo landscapes painted by Katsushika Hokusai. The theme for 2025 was "The Seasons of Sumida," and over 30 kouta songs were sung against a backdrop of seasonal ukiyo-e and nishiki-e prints projected onto numerous screens. Following on from 2024, I was in charge of the overall visuals. I've created many other things besides those featured here. The world of traditional performing arts can seem intimidating, so how can we open up doors for more people? I enjoy thinking about it and putting my hands to work every time. Thanks to everyone's support, the large hall was filled to capacity. It's been a very rewarding job.
