2026_Wajima's Treasure Calendar,

2025

Happy New Year. I illustrated the cover of the "Wajima's Treasure Calendar," which will be delivered to those affected by the disaster in Wajima at the end of the year and currently living in temporary housing. The treasure ship of the Seven Lucky Gods is an homage to the "Horai," a traditional New Year's decoration that is seen in the Noto region of Ishikawa Prefecture, particularly in Wajima City, as a symbol of good fortune and wishes for happiness and prosperity in the new year. I sprinkle various Noto specialties on it. Many of the affected people are elderly, so I drew the calendar in one go, brightly, joyfully, comfortably, and cheerfully, without explaining too much. 3,300 copies of the calendar were produced and were recently delivered to temporary housing and Wajima City Hall. It's been two years since the earthquake and one year and four months since the heavy rain damage. I imagine that both those affected and those working hard to rebuild have passed their peak and are feeling tired. I am powerless, but people around me continue to talk about Noto, and I continue to cherish Noto and plan to visit again. First of all, I sincerely pray for a safe New Year's holiday and a safe year ahead for everyone in Noto.
